Abortion in India:
Stories, stigma, challenges and solutions
Abortion is a deeply stigmatised experience, and choice, the world over. Especially in India, because it is often associated with the social ill of sex-selection. Yet India is one of the few countries in the world where abortion, or the medical termination of pregnancy is legal.
Then why is this still an issue loaded with prejudice, impregnable silence & judgement? We still hear stories of unsafe abortions in India, doctors turning away single women wanting an abortion & a blanket of invisibility around service centres which provide safe and sanitary abortions.
Join us for this all important discussion led by Surabhi Srivastava, a champion of Reproductive Justice. Discuss the ways in which the stigma can be navigated & how access to the right practitioner can be made easily available.
